The spine consists of individual vertebra that form a column which provides protection for the spinal cord and nerves which communicate with muscles and telegraph sensations and messages to the brain. The surgeons who specialize in surgeries to the spine have completed specialized training in surgical procedures to the spine, neck and back for repair and correction of various medical conditions. Their area of specialization enables them to repair or correct medical conditions including degenerative diseases such as osteoarthritis, arthritis, and to surgically repair or correct ruptured discs and trauma-related injuries such as spinal nerve damage and vertebral fractures. Our spine surgeons perform “minimally invasive surgery” and “closed” procedures. These procedures are performed on an outpatient basis, and require advanced surgical equipment such as specialized operating microscopes that magnify areas of repair through a small incision.
