A summa cum laude graduate of the University of Mississippi, Dr. Palmer earned a Bachelor of Arts in English while lettering in varsity track and field. He then completed a post-baccalaureate pre-medical curriculum at the University of Alabama at Birmingham before receiving his medical degree from the University of South Alabama College of Medicine, where he earned the Lewis D. Anderson Award as the top orthopaedic student.
Dr. Palmer finished a five-year orthopaedic surgery residency at the University of South Alabama, rotating through three community hospitals—including a Level I trauma center—and a dedicated children’s hospital. During residency he won the Lewis D. Anderson Best Paper Award and was nominated to the AOA Resident Leadership Forum. His research portfolio includes work on tibial fracture healing (TRUST Trial), hip chondrocyte protection with Synvisc-One, acetabular fracture outcomes, and cell-biology studies on wound healing. Dr. Palmer is a Diplomate of the American Board of Orthopaedic Surgeons and holds memberships in the American Academy of Orthopaedic Surgeons, the Medical Association of the State of Alabama, and the Medical Society of Lee County.
Drawing on extensive training in trauma and joint preservation, Dr. Palmer provides comprehensive care for fractures, sports injuries, and degenerative joint conditions. His evidence-based approach blends surgical expertise with the latest research to help patients regain function quickly and safely.
Outside the clinic, Dr. Palmer enjoys home-improvement projects, whitetail hunting, freshwater fishing, and running. He and his wife, Lauren, stay busy with their two children, McClain and Parker, and are grateful to live, work, and play in the East Alabama community they serve.
